Aussiedoodles

About Aussiedoodles

Aussiedoodles are a combination of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle.

Aussiedoodles are considered the "Einsteins of dogs". Not only are they extremely smart (two of ours are therapy dogs), but they are also extremely loving, loyal, great for people with allergies, and an all-around great family dog.

Aussiedoodles do well in homes that can provide plenty of attention and exercise. They excel when they have a "job" to do. A job can be as simple as a treat-dispensing toy, puzzle toy, a long walk, a find-it game where you hide a treat somewhere in the house and give him clues as to where to "find it".

Use your imagination - the more activities you can do with your dog, the more bonded and happier your dog will become.

They bond quickly to a specific person or family, which, along with their intuitive and inelligent nature, makes them a great choice for service or therapy work.

Breed Characteristics

Sizes - Typical adult weight can range between 25-75 pounds, being classified as miniature, moyen, or standard. This is dependent on the size of the parent dog, typically the Poodle, which can range from a Toy, Miniature, Moyen or Standard. Sizes are classified as mini, moyen and standard; which are basically small, medium, and large. We proudly breed all varieties.

Activity Level - These dogs have a moderate to high activity level. They do well with lots of exercise but are then also happy to chill on the couch with you.

Colors - Their colors vary from solids, to tri-colors, to Merle. Aussiedoodles can be black, red, black tri, red tri, parti (black and white / red and white) and/or merle. Merle is a pattern rather than a color. Merle appears as patches of light and dark colors mixed. The merle pattern can appear on any of the colors mentioned here.

Generations - There are F1, F1b, F2, F2b and multi-gen Aussiedoodles. The F1 generation is achieved by breeding an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. It is thought to be the best in terms of health benefits because mixing two completely different breeds minimizes the hereditary diseases of both breeds and is also the most stable for coat type.

The F1B Generation is the crossing of an F1 Aussiedoodle with a Poodle, and is thought to be better for allergies because of the higher concentration of Poodle. Half of the F1B generation puppies will be curly and the other half will be wavy like the F1, so it is important to know which type you're getting if you need to worry about allergies.

Grooming Requirements - Like all Doodles, Aussiedoodles will require grooming every 2-3 months, depending on the curl of their coat. Curlier puppies in the F1B generation will require grooming about every 2 months, while wavy puppies of the F1 and F1B generations can usually go about 3 months between groomings.
